Madagascar Jasmine - Stephanotis floribunda

A climber and pot plant that bears waxy, white flowers during the summer with a most beautiful scent. Hence often used in a Bride's bouquet. It comes from tropical Madagascar and is not easy to grow well.

Place in a well lit position but away from the mid day sun. It likes a constant environment and temperature, with a warm spot about 60 - 70F (15 - 21C) in the summer, cooler in the winter.

Water well in the summer, less in the winter. Use soft, warm water and mist frequently as it likes humidity. Spray the leaves but not the flowers. Try to move and repot as infrequently as possible, though it can be trimmed back.

It will grow large in a conservatory once it finds its right spot and the scent is heavenly. It may 'rest' for a few years and then unexpectedly burst back into life.
